Well, here is my summary of learning for our course this semester. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about social media and open education alongside my fellow classmates and Katia. I find these Edtech courses very important in education. Technology is changing and developing every day. I want to be an educator who is aware of these changes in order to better support the needs of learners now and in the future. I used one of my favourite educational tools, Canva to create my video. It is free for educators! I challenged myself to be on camera this time as it is still not something I feel very comfortable with. I want to be the educator who gives my students the ok to take risks in learning and not be afraid to try something new and step out of their comfort zone!

Thanks so much for the thoughtful reflection about this course, Kendra. Great work using Canva to help with your summary of learning. I too really enjoy using Canva to help create visual media displays. My students frequently use it as well because of its user-friendly customization abilities.
The part of your video about social media activism really resonated with me. Katia’s comment saying that “silence speaks just as loudly as words” hit home with me, as well. In the past, I too have erred on the side of caution and tended to not post about issues of social justice. Being silent and not saying anything essentially makes it seem like a social justice issue isn’t important to us. Moving forward, I will try to be intentional in my efforts to be vocal, in person and online, to address, discuss, and speak up about social justice issues. Great conclusion to the course!
